[ARCHIVED] Capital Area Solar Switch Helps Residents Get the Best Price for Solar

SSCapitalArea3_fullsun_oneline_blue

The Capital Area Solar Switch is an opportunity for residents living in and around the DC area to learn about and install rooftop solar panels, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging stations for their homes. This program leverages the power of group buying, and the expertise of non-profit Solar United Neighbors to ensure participants get a quality system at a discounted price. Capital Area Solar Switch vets qualified installers to compete for the group and runs a reverse auction to secure a competitively priced solar package.

Capital Area Solar Switch will host the reverse auction with qualified installers on June 21, 2023. Residents are encouraged to sign up by this date, because the more registrations there are by the auction date, the more competitively the installers will bid.  After the auction has taken place, personal recommendations will be prepared and then sent to all registrants via email, by July 25, 2023. Capital Area Solar Switch’s auction is expected to save residents an average of $4,000 on a standard-sized system. The IRA federal solar tax credit could further reduce costs by an additional 30%.

With the expansion on solar programs and the decrease in prices overall, rooftop solar has become more affordable in recent years and is a great option for lowering the carbon footprint of your home.
