[ARCHIVED] Electronic Recycling Events in Bowie and Fort Washington on December 6th

The City of Bowie will collect old televisions, computers, and other electronic equipment for recycling on December 6, 2014 at the Public Works Yard on Annapolis Road in Bowie. This event is being held in conjunction with Prince George's County’s E-Cycling event at Friendly High School in Fort Washington on the same date and time. Because of the distance from Bowie to Fort Washington, for the convenience of its residents, the City has arranged with the County to collect electronic items in Bowie and transport them to the County for recycling after 12/6.
Old computers, monitors, televisions, cell phones, stereos, DVD players, and other electronic equipment will be accepted for recycling. There is a restriction of five monitors and/or televisions per vehicle. Console televisions and compact discs/DVDs cannot be accepted for recycling and should be disposed of with regular trash. The complete list of acceptable/unacceptable items may be found on the City of Bowie website at www.cityofbowie.org/electronics.

This is a one-time drop off event in Bowie. At all other times of the year, electronics can only be recycled by bringing them to the Prince George’s County Electronics Collection site at the Brown Station Landfill in Upper Marlboro on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
For more information about this event, please call 301-809-2344.

The Public Works Yard is located at 16500 Annapolis Road (between MD 3 and Racetrack Road). There is no traffic signal at the entrance to Public Works, although there is a small turning area. For safety’s sake, the City recommends that drivers approach the entrance to Public Works by turning from MD 3 onto westbound MD 450. The entrance to the Public Works Yard is approximately one half mile down on the right.

Items may also be dropped of at Friendly High School in Fort Washington on December 6th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The school is located at 1000 Allentown Road in Fort Washington.
