Bowie’s volunteer Stream Teams walk along specific stream segments and pick up debris from stream corridors and separate it into either trash or recycling bags. During the past 13 cleanups, volunteers have removed over 15 tons of debris that would still be littering Bowie’s streams, the Patuxent River and even the Chesapeake Bay.
Join us on Saturday, March 28 from 9 - 12. If you're a Prince George's County student, you can earn Student Service Learning Hours before the deadline extension of April 1!!
Some of the more interesting items found in past cleanups include a riding lawnmower, several car pieces (hood, doors, roof), a television set and a sofa, a rusted box spring embedded in a tree, a pink flamingo (the plastic kind), and dozens of shopping carts.
