  1. Senior VIllage Meeting

    October 23, 2019, 7:00 PM @ Bowie City Hall

    A Senior Village is neighborhood-based membership grassroots movement supported by volunteers. A Village makes it easier for older neighbors to keep living safely, comfortably and actively in their own homes while staying connected with their neighbors and community. The City of Bowie, in cooperation with the Maryland Umbrella Group (MUG), will be conducting two informational meetings to discuss the potential formation of a Bowie Senior Village, and to launch a senior-services needs assessment.   2. Stakeholders Meeting – Rockledge Neighborhood Stream Restoration

    October 23, 2019, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Rockledge Elementary School (media center)

    The Public Works Department has been implementing a variety of stormwater improvement projects in Bowie, as required by the State of Maryland to improve the quality of streams that drain to the Chesapeake Bay. One of these projects, currently in design, is a stream restoration project along Saddlebrook Branch, which originates in the Rockledge neighborhood (near Rockledge Drive and Rambling Lane). The project will include tree removal, stabilization of the stream banks and sanitary sewer line, creation of in-stream pools to improve habitat, and native plantings.

    An informational stakeholders meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the Rockledge Elementary School where City staff will provide information on what to expect during and after construction.   3. Public Safety Committee Meeting

    October 23, 2019, 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

    The mission of the City's Public Safety Committee is to identify and examine Bowie's public safety issues, which include (but are not limited to) Emergency Preparedness, Fire/EMS and Police services. The Committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month. These meetings are open to the public.

  4. Economic Development Committee - Bus Tour

    October 25, 2019, 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM

    The Bowie EDC will assemble and depart promptly at 9:45 a.m. on a bus tour of mixed-use developments in Montgomery County. They will stop for lunch and hear from a City of Gaithersburg expert on those developments. The EDC will return to City Hall between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

  5. Amber Ridge Stakeholders Meeting

    October 30, 2019, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    A Stakeholders Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers in Bowie City Hall. The City and the applicant will be there to present the plans for Amber Ridge, a mixed-use community proposed on a vacant 19-acre site located on the west side of southbound U.S. Route 301, approximately 0.3 mile south of the Mitchellville Road intersection. The project includes a mix of 200 townhouses and up to 20,000 sq. ft. of retail/commercial development. Submissions include a Preliminary Subdivision Plan for the creation of the 200 residential lots and two retail/commercial parcels, as well as a Detailed Site Plan for the residential development.
