Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program

The Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program is a federally funded grant program that provides financial assistance to single family homeowners with limited financial means. Please see below for eligibility requirements, application documents, and other important information about the program. Seniors, teachers, first responders, veterans and disabled homeowners are encouraged to apply.

The purpose of the grant is to:

• provide energy efficiency related upgrades and repairs to correct hazardous conditions
• eliminate safety hazards
• repair or replace major systems
• correct interior and exterior deficiencies
• make energy improvements or modifications for persons with disabilities; and
• eliminate lead based paint hazards

 Goals of the Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program

The goals of the program are consistent with the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development’s goals for the Energy Star Program, which are as follows:

• Help single family homeowners make energy efficiency related improvements to their homes
• Reduce home operating cost
• Reduce health hazards
• Improve indoor air quality
• Increase comfort
• Increase property value; and 
• Improve the homeowner’s outlook on life

There are a limited number of grants available and the maximum grant amount is $10,000.

• Insulation
• Windows/doors
• HVAC systems
• Energy Star appliances
• Mobility installations
• Electrical upgrades
• Plumbing repairs
