Free Workforce Training Program for Young Adults

The City of Bowie Office of Grant Development and Administration, in conjunction with Bowie Youth and Family Services, offers residents a free Workforce Development and Life Skills Training Program for youth and young adults between the ages of 15 and 25. The program will provide free workforce readiness training, which will include a portion on life skills and another on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) career paths. The application period for the 2020 program is January 1, 2020 - February 21, 2020. Classes will take place in March 2020.

Two public information meetings were held at Bowie City Hall  on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 and Wednesday, February 5, 2020

City staff will conduct in-take interviews to assess applicant needs and interests from January 1 - March 6, 2020. Interviews will take place at City Hall and the Kenhill Center and last approximately half an hour.

Program Dates:



Participants below the age of 18 will meet on Tuesday evenings at City Hall from 6 - 8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • March 10, 2020
  • March 17, 2020
  • March 24, 2020
  • March 31, 2020
Participants aged 18 - 25 will meet on Thursday evenings at City Hall from 6 - 8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • March 12, 2020
  • March 19, 2020
  • March 26, 2020
  • April 2, 2020

Eligibility Requirements to Enroll in the Program:


  1. Must be a resident of the City of Bowie 
  2. Be between the ages of 15 to 25 
  3. Have a desire to enroll in a four-week Workforce Development Training for job readiness, meeting weekly at Bowie City Hall.
